About the menu
Our menu is simple we serve a wide variety of pizzas, buffet style accompanied by a simple mixed green salad, espresso and cappuccino and six flavors of gelato for dessert.
There is no set number of pizzas nor do you need to preorder particular pies. We bring plenty of dough, a wide variety of toppings (click for list) and continue to make pies until all the guests are full. Some people provide additional appetizers and or desserts but it is not necessary- there will be plenty of food!
Guests who have food allergies or specific dietary restrictions should speak to the pizza makers at the start of the party or call the office ahead of time; in most cases we can accommodate them.
About our pizza
We do thin crust, New Haven-style pizza. Our dough is simple (water, flour, salt, yeast- no added fats, dairy or sugar), we use the best whole milk mozzarella and imported Pecorino Romano cheeses. The sauce is a simple crushed tomatoes. We go light on everything therefore you can sample more pies. Our dough is hand stretched at the event and baked in our high-heat, wood fired with the end product having the characteristic charring around the edges.
One of the delights of Big Green truck is the ability to sample an astounding variety of non traditional pizza, types you normally would not order on your own. We have no set playlist; each pizza maker has his own unique mix of classical favorites, crowd requests and his own improvisations as he create a primo pie for your party.
We begin by making a selection of time-honored pies (cheese, pepperoni, tomato/basil) then some non traditional (mashed potato/bacon/carmelized onion, buffalo chicken, shrimp florentine). Where we go from there depends on the guests. Some groups like mostly meat pies, some mainly vegetable, others like mild or spicy. Most parties are a nice mix-like a good DJ our pizza creators adjust their selection to please the crowd: always trying to keep the party going with making sure there is something for everyone! We also do take requests, but not everyone’s pie can be the next one up, please be patient and try what we put on the table, we tend to not get to special orders until we have fed the crowd first.
We keep boxes on the truck for leftover pizza as well. We are more than happy to leave a few pies for the host at the end of the event, but not for guest who come to late for the pizza truck experience. Our main responsibility is to feed the guests at the party.
We have a simple mixed green blend of salad with cucumbers, red onion, tomatoes, with a balsamic vinaigrette. In the late fall and early spring, when tomatoes are out of season we make a salad of pears, dried cranberries, walnuts and red onions with a white wine vinaigrette.
Gelato and ice cream
In addition to pizza, we provide desserts for your guests. We currently carry six flavors of gelato. The gelato flavors are usually:
- LaGiuliana (Mocha)
Our gelato is made by Gelato Giuliana in New Haven www.gelatogiuliana.com.
Please refer to their website for locations to buy gelato. Consult with them directly concerning allergies, as their recipes might have changed without notice to us. We have been told the fruit flavors are dairy-free and that no eggs are used in any of these flavors.
