Big Green Truck Pizza was founded by New Haven catering veteran Doug Coffin. When Doug and a small team headed out for their first event on Labor Day weekend in 2003, they weren’t even sure the truck would work. It did — and then some. What started as an experiment quickly became a sensation. Today, we operate eight trucks across Connecticut, catering more than 50 parties a week during peak season!

Six of our trucks are restored 1947–1948 International Harvester KB5s, each customized with a top-of-the-line wood-fired oven, refrigerator, espresso machine, hand sink, storage, and more. The sides of the truck beds detach and convert into prep and serving tables — no space is wasted. For events more than an hour outside of New Haven, we use newer trucks to ensure reliability and efficiency. Want to learn how these unique trucks came to be? In 2021, Big Green Truck Pizza was purchased by longtime operations manager Liane Varipapa Page. Liane joined BGTP in 2011. A descendant of the family behind New Haven’s iconic Leon’s Restaurant, she brings deep culinary roots to the business. Raised in a city proudly known as the Pizza Capital of the U.S., Liane has a passion for great food and warm hospitality in her blood. Under Doug’s guidance, she learned the ins and outs of mobile food service, and with the continued support of her family and dedicated staff — who she considers family — she is committed to maintaining the quality, creativity, and integrity that Big Green Truck Pizza was built on.

At Big Green Truck, every day is a party. We arrive ready to serve, making your event easy, fun, and unforgettable. We may be often imitated, but never duplicated. We cater with food, family, and love — we may arrive as strangers, but we leave as friends.
